What happens in a Couple Massage

  1. Arriving togetherYou arrive together and are asked about your preferences separately, because you will not necessarily want the same thing. One of you may want firm work and the other something much gentler. Both are fine.
  2. Settling side by sideYou are shown in together and settle onto tables placed beside one another. There is usually a little laughing at this point. It passes once the room goes quiet and both massages begin.
  3. Two massages at onceFrom there it is two separate treatments happening at the same time, a practitioner for each of you, each following what that guest asked for. Neither of you has to keep pace with the other.
  4. The quiet middleMost couples talk for the first few minutes and then stop without deciding to. That shared quiet is the part guests tend to remember. You can keep chatting throughout if you would rather.
  5. Leaving unhurriedYou finish at roughly the same time and are left to come round together, so nobody sits waiting alone. Plan nothing immediately afterwards if you can help it. The afternoon lands better that way.

Who Couple Massage suits

  • Suits an anniversary, a birthday, or a first proper hour together after a long stretch of busy weeks.
  • Works well when one of you is new to massage and would rather not walk into it alone.
  • If you want deep, uninterrupted quiet with nobody beside you, book the Swedish Massage on your own.
  • Two practitioners with all the attention on one guest is the 4 Hands Massage rather than this.

Should you choose the shorter or the longer session?

A shared booking spends its first minutes settling, so the shorter session moves briskly once you are both quiet. It works when you want something lovely that still fits inside an afternoon. The longer session is kinder to the occasion, because it gives you both time to stop talking, which is usually the point.

What to tell your practitioner

Tell your practitioners separately what each of you wants, including pressure and any areas to avoid. Mention if one of you has never had a massage, since that changes how much gets explained along the way. Say whether you would like the room quiet or are happy chatting, so you both get the same session.
